What is CCFF 2021?
The Climate Crisis Film Festival showcases stunning, diverse, and eye-opening cinema, providing a systemic perspective behind the raw human stories of climate change.
It is the UK’s first climate action film festival and is both youth-led and pioneering. The films at the festival aim to provide an intersectional analysis of climate, politics, economics and social justice.
As well as bringing awareness to the climate crisis, the organisers also want to bring attention to underrepresented voices and award diverse storytellers, which is why the shorts programme will be comprised of films by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) directors from all over the world.
The aim of the festival is to build a community of empowered citizens across the globe through the power of film, offering a truly interactive and memorable experience.
As well as screenings and Q&As, there will be art programs, workshops, and new ways of interacting with guest speakers through a hybrid of digital and physical experiences.
When is it?
CCFF 2021 will be taking place from 1st – 12th November at the same time as COP26 – the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference – is being held in Glasgow.
There will also be a special awards ceremony taking place on the 12th November, where the winning director of the film festival will receive an Ocean Bottle Film Award of £6000.
Where is it?
The digital programme is free and will take place globally online. The awards ceremony at the end will take place in Glasgow inside the COP26 and will involve a special screening, as well as the presentation of the award.
